Biography
John Steven Demuth “Coach,” 72, of Englewood, FL, passed away Dec. 3, 2015. Steve was born in Indianapolis, IN on March 8, 1943. He was the son of Mary and George Demuth. He is survived by his son Eric of Boca Raton, 2 stepchildren Mike and Lori, brother Paul of Avon, IN, grandchildren; Skylar and Shawna, nieces; Elise and Tracy, and nephew Harold. Steve was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Nancy. He loved the outdoors either hunting, fishing, or golfing. He was a phenomenal football player, a great teacher, coach and a tremendous fisherman, father & friend. He was enshrined into the Ball State University Football Hall of Fame in 2014. His team went undefeated and played in the 1965 Grantland Rice Bowl, thus jumpstarting his Indiana high school coaching career including New Albany, Batesville, Elwood, and Carmel high schools. After football, he retired to Englewood, FL where he became a boat captain and fishing guide. He spent many years in the FL Keys catching Tarpon on his boat “Ol Coach.
