John H. Deckard, 91, of Bloomington passed away on Saturday April 18, 2015 at the IU Health Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. John was born May 11, 1923 in Brown County to the late Enoch and Pearl (Mitchner) Deckard. John was a farmer and farmed for several years in the Salt Creek Bottoms for Ralph Rogers.
Later he was a mechanic working for Barnard Motors and then for himself with Deckard Alignment. John married Mary Etta (Cazee) Deckard on October 13, 1943 and they enjoyed 71 years of marriage until her death on February 10 of this year. Together they had three sons; John L. Deckard (Marcella) and Kenny Deckard (Karen) both of Bloomington, and Mike Deckard (Vera Franklin) of Martinsville.
Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren along with two brothers Cecil Deckard and Glenn Deckard. John was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers; Ival, Orval, Jack and Ralph and sister Retta.
