John David Haines, 71, was born October 8, 1950, in Beech Grove, Indiana and passed on June 2, 2022, at Community Hospital South surrounded by his wife, Janet, and family.
John served in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman assigned to the 2nd Marine division. After leaving the military, John pursued a career in the fire service. John was hired March 1, 1974, as a full-time engineer with the Perry Township Fire Department and became a paramedic. John worked up through the ranks to include Lieutenant, Captain, Battalion Chief, Fire Prevention, and retired as the Assistant Chief in April of 2004. John also served as a volunteer with the Amity Fire Department.
John enjoyed spending time with his daughters Jamie and Julie as a band parent and enjoyed time on the lake. He enjoyed time with his brother and sister-in-law Mark and Bev Burzlaff as well as all his extended family. He especially enjoyed time with his nieces Lindsey, Kate, and Megan and his grandkids Gracie and Austin.
John is survived by his wife Janet Haines, daughter Jamie Burton of Jonesboro Georgia, daughter Julie (Brian) Hedrick of Franklin Indiana, and grandchildren Lillian Hedrick and Austin Hedrick.
