John Dale Eiler, 90, died Thursday October 3, 2013 in Greenwood. He was a resident of Greenwood and formerly of Miami County. Dale was born July 9, 1923 in McDonough County, Illinois. He married Madelyn Maus June 18, 1944 in Denver, Indiana; they were married for 69 years
.
He was employed with Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis for 25 years in security and communications. Dale enjoyed bowling, softball, basketball, golfing, fishing and barber shop quartets. He was a 4-H leader and was involved with tractor pulling contests. He was the National Plowing Champion in 1955 and Miami County Corn King 1957. He was a member and elder at Post Road Christian Church in Indianapolis.
Survivors include his wife, Madelyn Eiler of Greenwood, a son, Alan M.( Gayle) Eiler of Columbus and two grandchildren, Misty Noel Eiler of Florida and Mitchell Eiler of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Myrtle E. ( Haines) Eiler, two sisters and four brothers.
