John D. McKinney, age 73, of Plymouth, MA passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021 in Bourne, was born in South Portland, Maine on June 16, 1948, son of the late James and Maryann (Morse) McKinney. He was a graduate of South Portland High School where he excelled on the basketball team. He went on to make his career as a Retail Executive working for many companies including; The Outlet Co. in Providence, Sibley’s Dept. Store in Pittsford, NY; Value City Dept. Stores in Dublin, OH; TJX Corp in Framingham, MA and National Wholesale Liquidators in Hempstead, NY. John was the loving father of Allison Pelton and her husband Tom of Plymouth, MA; Jonathan McKinney and his wife Kelli of Plymouth, MA; and Amanda McKinney of Isles of Palms, SC. He was the brother of Chris McKinney, and the late James W. McKinney Jr, and Leola Stade. John is also survived by his 5 grandchildren (Avry, Nate, Jada, Lennon, and Raya) and the mother of his children, Joyce (Paquet) McKinney. John was a huge Boston sports fan, especially the Celtics and Red Sox. He enjoyed playing cribbage, basketball and golf. He had great taste in music with some of his favorites being; Bob Seger, The Eagles, Crosby Stills and Nash, Tina Turner, and many more. When not listening to music, he enjoyed movies like; The Godfather, Goodfellas, Shawshank Redemption and Scent of a Woman. With all the things that he enjoyed doing there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his children and grandchildren.
