John Curtis Gibson born August 10, 1948 in Peoria, Illinois passed away peacefully on April 6, 2010 in Pipe Creek, Texas. A beloved spouse, devoted father and loving grandfather, he will be remembered by family and friends for his keen sense of humor and love for the game of golf. He was preceded in death by his parents J. Warren and Maxine Gibson of Peoria, IL. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Julie, two daughters, Mary (Gino) Gambino, Laurel Gibson, and granddaughter Isabella Gambino; brothers, Terry Gibson of Farmington, Il, Bill (Betty) Gibson of Bartonville, Il., and sister, Marjorie (John) Palmer of Pekin, Il. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to beloved relatives, friends and hospice staff that enriched his life with so much love and concern the past few months. A special thanks to Kay, his hospice nurse for making his last wish possible to see all the thousands of bluebonnets in our front yard. John received his Bachelors and Master degrees from Bradley Univ. in Peoria, IL. and Doctorate from Ohio State Univ. in Columbus, Ohio. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a pioneer in the development of long distance switching systems at Bell Laboratories and traveled all over the world representing AG Communications and Lucent Technologies in the telecommunication industry. He was an Engineering Fellow and was highly respected as an expert in his field.
