John “Coach” Zuger, 84, a resident of Glen Burnie, passed away on December 4, 2014 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was born in Homestead, Pennsylvania on March 13, 1930 to the late Jay and Anna Zuger. John attended the University of Indiana, Duquesne University and Carnegie Mellon University. He was an art teacher who began his teaching career in Maryland at Severna Park Junior High School from 1967-1970. In 1970, he moved to Northeast High School and finished at Old Mill Middle School, retiring in 1995. John was a dedicated football coach at Northeast High School and was also a CFL professional football scout from 1985-2005. He enjoyed making jewelry, gardening, crafts, photography and carpentry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 ½ years, Jacqueline; and three siblings, Eugene, Shirley and Gerry.
He is survived by his three sons, Doug, Thomas and Daniel; two grandchildren, Kristen and David; one great-granddaughter, Chelsea; one brother, Joe Zuger; and his sister-in-law, Colleen Zuger.
