John Clayton Banks, 80, of Clarksburg, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Louis A. Johnson Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born in Monongalia County on October 24, 1932 the son of the late Wayman Murray and Virginia Frum Murray. He is survived by two children; John M. Banks and wife Robin of Meadowbrook and Christal Jenkins and husband Bernard of Clarksburg; six grandchildren; Clayton Collins, Brianna DeVaul, Jessica Lanham and husband Brady, Johnny Banks, Brandie Elsey and Kenny and Destiney Jenkins and companion Christopher Shockey; seven great grandchildren; Mikah, Trey, Taylor, Coleton, Carlie, Jacob, Tori and one on the way; one brother Charles Murray and wife Sandra of Johnstown and one sister; Katherine Wilt of Buckhannon. He was preceded in death by one daughter; Bridgeta DeVaul and one grandson Bernard “Tike” Jenkins. Mr. Banks worked in delivery for Sunshine Biscuit for 21 years and then worked as an exterminator for Orkin for 14 years. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Korean War. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved camping and being outdoors. He collected guns and coins and loved to cook and bake and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
