John Chester Prunty, Sr., age 70, of Salem, WV passed away on Monday, January 9, 2017 at United Hospital Center surrounded by his family. He was born March 17, 1946 in Clarksburg, WV; the son of the late Arlis Prunty and Mildred (Murphy) Prunty.
He is survived by his son, John C. Prunty, Jr of West Union, WV; seven grandchildren, Morgan Prunty, John C. Prunty III, Angel Prunty, Mary Prunty, Geneva Prunty, William Prunty and Hailey Collins; a brother, Arnold Prunty Sr. & his wife, Jackie of Anmoore, WV; four nephews, Kenny Prunty of Adamston, Michael Prunty of South Carolina, Arnold Prunty, Jr. of California and Bobby Prunty of Lumberport, WV; a niece, Kimberly Passella of Adamston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a sister, Betty Prunty; his girlfriend, Anna Howard.
John retired from the City of Clarksburg and was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
