The ultimate Appalachian State fan, John Boyce Rogers, Jr. 76, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022, in Boone, North Carolina. He suffered a sudden heart attack while attending an App State football game at Kidd Brewer Stadium, on September 24.
He was married to the late Linda Crawford Rogers, who passed away in September 2002. In addition to his beloved wife, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Martha Houpe Peeler and his brother, Frank Gordon Houpe.
John is survived by his sister, Julia Kay Rogers, his nieces and nephews; Pamela Peeler Safrit (Cass), Timothy Lester Peeler (Lisa), Susan Peeler Stiller (Mark), Jayne Peeler Petrea (Chuck), William David Peeler (Sarah), Robin Houpe Benfield (Keith), Donna Houpe Threatte (Kenneth), Sherry Houpe Grant (Randy), Franklin Kent Houpe (Leslie), Gordon Brent Houpe (Deborah), Preston Gene Houpe (Tonya), William Dean Houpe (Carol Ann) and a host of great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
