John of Arvada, peacefully passed into Eternal Life, at age 94. Born in Walsenburg, Colorado to Maximillian Herrera and Mary Soledad Chacon, he had 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
As a WWII Veteran of the Merchant Marines, he was very proud to have served our country. Having studied at the University of Colorado, Denver, he went on to become a respected Civil Engineer for the State of Colorado; designing and building many of Colorado’s bridges and highways we travel on today. He was devoted to his wife Teresa of 66 years and to all of his family.
To all who knew him, our dad was the best father, friend, cousin, uncle, brother, grandfather, great grandfather anyone could ever ask for. He is forever loved and missed. John leaves behind 5 children and their spouses, 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
