John B. McCarty, age 86 died Saturday September 20, 2014 at his residence in Burlington Twp. Born in Burlington, Mr. McCarty remained a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Burlington High School, Class of 1947. After high school, John entered the US Army, serving honorably as a member of the German Occupation Force, as a medic. After the service, he worked for the City of Burlington, Tenneco in Burlington and as part of the construction crew that lengthened the runways at McGuire AFB to allow jet traffic.

His last job before retiring was for the Mt. Holly Board of Education. He was a lifetime parishioner of St. Paul R.C. Church in Burlington. John had a passion for baseball, was a fan of the NY Yankees and an avid fan of the Phillies. He also enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles. He was also a model railroading enthusiast. His biggest love was his family. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jane (nee Harkins), sons and daughters in law John and Marita McCarty and Kevin and Diane McCarty, daughter and son in law Peg and Bryan McGair, grandchildren John, Stephanie (Jason), Tracie, Bryan, Jr. and Jenise (Joann), his great grandchildren Kamryn and Jaycee as well as several nieces and nephews.
