WINSTED – John B. Marchi, 88, formerly of Canaan, CT and Spring Hill, FL, passed away at his home on September 21, 2019, with his devoted family by his side. He was the loving husband of Doris (Loucks) Marchi for over 69 in Sandisfield, MA, on December 14, 1930, John was the son of the late John B. Marchi, Sr. and Pasqualena (Calabrese) Marchi. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. John retired from Allied Grocers after many years of service and was also a former police officer with the Winchester Police Department. He truly was a caring, giving and compassionate person who loved and enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He loved traveling, football and poker games. He also loved scratching off lottery tickets and waiting for the big winning addition to his devoted wife, he leaves daughters, Susan Cummings (James Metro), Lisa Ackerman, Donna Marchi (Martha Misten), and Diane Strattman (Christopher); grandchildren, Michelle Ackerman Clouser (Seth), Rebecca Ackerman, Sarah Ackerman, Zachary Ackerman and Alexandra Ackerman; great-granddaughter, McKenzie Hils; his dog, Gracie Allyn; sisters, Angeline Lovetere and Esther Chirico; and many beloved nephews and nieces. John was predeceased by sons, John B. Marchi, 3rd, and Michael J. Marchi; son-in-law, Kalum Cummings; brothers, Frank Marchi (Dorothy) and Peter Marchi (Carmela), and sister Marion Raydenbow.
