John B. Decker, 91, husband of Glenna (Strong) Decker, of Newington and his beloved Cape Cod passed away April 12, 2014 at home. John was the son of the late Konstanty and Maria (Krawiec) Dekutowski. I would like to tell you about my husband. He was born on December 23, 1922. He was a WWII Veteran and served in the US Navy for six years. John served on the U.S. Arkansas Battleship and the Conner Destroyer as a 1st Class Petty Officer during the war and received many medals. He also graduated from the Hartford Technical Institute as an architectural draftsman. The husband I knew was extremely honorable, honest, hardworking and faithful. He had a wry sense of humor and loved to laugh. His hobbies were baseball, golf, stamp collecting and fishing. Antiquing along 6A at Cape Cod was also a favorite hobby. John loved outside activities the most. Besides leaving his lovely wife Glenna, of 67 loving years, he leaves his three sons, John Glenn Decker and wife Laura, Mark Thomas Decker and his wife Laurel and Michael Barry Decker and his wife Kathleen. John also leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Kelly Parisi, Judith Conant, Matthew Decker, Kevin Decker and five great grandchildren, Derek, Jeremy and Olivia Conant and Audrey and Andrew Decker.
