John Arthur Muehe, 78, of Renick, MO passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022. He was born November 16,1943 in Moberly to the union of Arthur and Mary (Bott) Muehe.
Survivors include his children: Kent Muehe and his wife Rhonda, Tracie Buffo and her husband Brian, Annette Barnes and her husband Mike, Kyle Muehe and Tara Muehe, seven grandchildren: Tiffanie Zuckerman, Amanda Lewis, Heather Fuchs and her partner Brandon Reynolds, Jennifer Weaks and her husband Heath, Karl Muehe and his partner Melissa Hamilton, Jeremy Fuchs, and Jagur Muehe; and eight great grandchildren: Michael Reynolds, Temperence Harris-Fuchs, AJ Lewis, Eliana Reynolds, Jaylynn Weaks, Connor Zuckerman, JeanLuc Muehe, and Logan Zuckerman; as well as his sister Judy ( Muehe) Stuck and her husband Don and their children; and close cousins Larry Bott and Harold Muehe
He married Barbara Sue Ornburn February 01, 1962 and she preceded him in death, November 05, 2021. Also preceding him in death were his parents. John and Barb fell in love while attending Renick High School and had almost 60 years together. John has always been a hard worker and started out as a general laborer for 5 years with Heddinghaus Lumber. Together, they moved to central Illinois for work opportunities, and John enjoyed a long career with Caterpillar, retiring after 36 years as an Industrial Electrician. Then, he worked an additional 5 years for Mitsubishi Motors.
He always took pride in his work and epitomized “an honest day’s pay for an honest day’s work” – and was a proud Union Member for UAW Local 974 and 2488. John and Barb moved back home to Renick in 2008 where he served his community as a member of the Renick School Board from 2008-2017 and as Renick’s Mayor from 2010 until his passing. John and Barb both had a passion for travelling the world and spending time with their family. John also was a superb gardener, like his father, as well as a “cat whisperer,” providing for local strays. The “old man” will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge-St. Louis, MO, which provided them free lodging during Barb’s cancer treatment.
