John A. Hoebeke, 87, of Kalamazoo, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday evening, January 13, 2019. John was born November 17, 1931 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late William and Gertie Hoebeke. He was an area resident for all 87 years of his life.

John graduated from Kalamazoo Christian Schools in 1949. He was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church. John was an electrician for 40 years and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He also volunteered with World Renew, Victory Bible Camp, and Second Impressions.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Christina V. Hoebeke, whom he married July 22, 1960 in Sully, IA.

He is survived by his 3 daughters, Lori (Bill) Gove of Kalamazoo, Sally (Chris) Clark of Caledonia, and Marcia (Todd) Raifsnider of Kalamazoo; 8 grandchildren, Lindsay (David) Beauchamp, Ryan Gove, Lauren Clark, Ethan (Emily) Clark, Austin Clark, Monica Lawrence, Jonathan Lawrence, and Megan (Jason) Leigh; sister, Margean Powers; brothers-in-law, Ralph (Bernice) VanSoelen of Newton, IA and Donald (Pat) VanSoelen of Council Bluffs, IA; sisters-in-law, Joanne (Marvin) Sjaardema of Denver, CO and Millie VanSoelen of Sully, IA; as well as many nieces and nephews.
