John Alfred McKinght, 90, of Parkersburg (formerly of Bridgeport) passed away Thursday, February 24, 2011. He was born December 14, 1920 in Robey, WV the son of the late Tobias McKnight and Clara (Hall) McKnight. He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine “Gerrie” McKnight whom he married June 27, 1942. Surviving are two sons; Ronald A. McKnight and wife Linda of Abilene, TX and Larry D. McKnight and wife Tammy of Parkersburg; three grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a grandson; Christopher McKnight. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having also been preceded in death by five sisters; Laura, Murial, Bess, Alice and Mildred and three brothers; William, Cleo and James and two brothers in infancy. Mr. McKnight was a member of the UMWA, Parkersburg Shriners-Nemesis, Bridgeport Masonic Blue Lodge #63. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Mr. McKnight retired as a safety director from Badger Coal company where he worked in Philippi and Buckhannon. He was a also a United State Army Veteran.
