John A. Pyrch, age 98, of Fairfield, beloved husband of the late Marilyn Elizabeth (Kelly) Pyrch, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 31, 2018 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport, the son of the late Andrew and Anna Pyrch, he had been a Fairfield resident since 1956.

He was a graduate of Warren Harding High School where he played on the basketball team that reached the State finals. He worked in management for the Dictaphone Company and then for Sikorsky Aircraft as an aircraft repair fabricator. Following his retirement John worked in security for Chesebrough Ponds. A gifted athlete and a lover of all sports, John played semi-professional basketball on the Bridgeport Speedsters and played on industrial softball leagues.

He played on senior bowling leagues until the age of 97 where he proudly bowled a 210, and played golf in the senior league at H. Smith Richardson Golf Course until the age of 95. John enjoyed gardening and working around his home. He will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband and father. Survivors include four beloved children, Suzanne Pyrch and her wife Deborah Emin of East Stroudsburg, PA, John T. Pyrch and his wife Mary Lee Sires of Black Rock, Dennis X. Pyrch of Fairfield and Michael J. Pyrch of Los Gatos, CA; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Nicolas, William and Stephen and his sister, Josephine Craw.
