John A. DiCarlo, 78, of Arrowhead Road, Emlenton, Allegheny Twp., Butler County, formerly of Pittsburgh, died at Grove City Medical Center Tuesday evening, March 3, 2009, following an illness.
Born on July 28, 1930 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of Albert and Mary Petfacci DiCarlo.
Mr. DiCarlo was retired from Mesta Machine Co. in Hazelwood and had also been employed at the Stardust Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was a member of the Barkeyville United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and craftmaking.
Mr. DiCarlo is survived by his wife, Helen Ferry DiCarlo whom he married on November 12, 1948 in Memphis, Tennessee. Also surviving are four sons, John A.F. DiCarlo Jr. of Nitro, West Virginia, Daniel DiCarlo and his wife Karen of Crosslanes, West Virginia, James A. DiCarlo and his wife Kelly of Emlenton, and Albert A. DiCarlo of Nitro, West Virginia. A daughter survives, Lisa M. Balunsat and her husband Craig of Chesapeake City, Maryland. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren. A sister survives, Linda DiCarlo of Pittsburgh. Also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a son David J. DiCarlo who died on October 28, 1978.
