John A. Dempsey, 81, of Holiday Heights, Berkeley Twp., NJ passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Community Medical Center, Toms River. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, he lived in Carteret, NJ for 30 years before moving to Berkeley Twp. 26 years ago.
John was an Iron Steel Worker for US Metals in Carteret, NJ for 32 years. He was a US Army Korean War Veteran and was a life member of the VFW, Perth Amboy, NJ. He was also a parishioner of St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Berkeley Twp.
John was predeceased by his son Brian James Dempsey in 2007 and a grandson Brian John Dempsey in 2005. Surviving are his wife of 57 ½ years Eileen (nee Sullivan), 2 daughters Coleen Pierre of Hickory, NC and Jacqueline Wendt and her husband Kevin of Howell, NJ, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
