Mr. John A. Charles
, 77, of North Arlington passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday Feb. 27, 2010.
John was born in Claremorris Co. Mayo, Ireland. He came to this country in 1957 and settled in New York. He lived in Kearny for 18 years before moving to North Arlington in 1985.
He was an owner and operator of Walter T. Murphy Construction Co. in New York for 25 years. He retired in 1993. He was a member of the Kearny Irish American Club.
Mr. Charles is survived by his daughter Joan McLaughlin (Kevin), He was the brother of Delia Howard-Smithies, Michael, Dan and P.J. He was the beloved grandfather of Katie, Deirdre and Liam McLaughlin. He was the brother-in-law of Sally O’Hare. He was pre-deceased by his wife Harriet (Connolly) in 1966.
