Our beloved Joseph Randolph West left to be with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2018, 9:12 am at Doctor’s Hospital. Joseph was born June 17, 1953, in Washington D.C. to James and Josephine West. He graduated from Bell Vocational High School in 1971, with a trade certification in Metal Fabrication. On February 28, 1974, he enlisted in the United States Army. While in the military he obtained his military occupational specialty as an Army Rodman and Tapeman, assisting topographic and construction survey personnel, while he performed the duties of a Topographic Surveyor.
It was during his time in service that he met and fell in love with Marita Maria Mattocks. After separating with an honorable discharge from the military on February 25, 1977, his courtship of Marita leads to their marriage on a beautiful fall day November 15, 1978. Joseph worked as an armed physical security officer for the United States Census Bureau, retiring in 2008.
