Joenita Lawver Gemmer, 93, Huntington, IN, died at 3:58 PM on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice, Fort Wayne, IN. Mrs. Gemmer was born September 30, 1917 in Whitley County to Eldon T. and Mary Hicks Lawver. She graduated from Lancaster High School and was employed for many years at West Supply Company and the Hooks Drug Store, both of Huntington.
Mrs. Gemmer married Donald E. Gemmer in 1939. They were married for 57 years. He preceded her in death in 1998. She is survived by her son Doug (Betsy) Gemmer of Fort Wayne and a daughter DeLee (Jereld) Reeder of Indianapolis.
Three grandsons, Michael (Pam) Gemmer of Medina, OH; Timothy Gemmer of Fort Wayne; and Andrew (Bong Sun) Reeder of Sterling, Virginia. One granddaughter, Suzanne (Steve) Kukolla of Litchfield, Connecticut; along with one great granddaughter, Lisa Gemmer of Medina, OH. She is also survived by her sister Martha Noel of Fort Wayne and three nieces and four nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers James and Henry Lawver.
