Joel Villezcas Lozoya, 50, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, July 5, 2021, he passed away peacefully in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
Joel was born March 14, 1971, in Casas Grandes, Chihuahua, Mexico to Emma Lozoya Nunez and Zefrino Villezcas. He attended Deming High School where he graduated and played football receiving the nickname “Toro.” He enjoyed spending time on the beach listening to bandas and being with family. He was known for his big heart and selflessness. He also welcomed everyone with open arms and gave to others without hesitation. Joel was hard-working and a loving father, brother, son, uncle, and friend. His smile would light up a room and be contagious. The love he had for his family was constantly demonstrated he would always reach out to his family if it was to congratulate them for their successes or simply to ask what the score was for his Denver Broncos, most importantly he would always check in to see how everybody was doing. He always gave great advice and made sure that everyone knew that he loved them. On his last birthday with us, he was brought to tears of joy and gratefulness as he looked around and saw he was surrounded by friends and family celebrating the 50 years of life that he had been blessed with.
He is survived by his siblings, Alma, Norma, Alberto, Luis, Israel, Gerardo, Miriam, and Alonzo; whom he loved with all of his heart. He had a special bond with each of his siblings, and he now will always be in their hearts. He also loved his nieces and nephews as if they were his own. Joel married and had two beautiful children Joel Alejandro and Paola Irene Villezcas. He supported and made two strong independent loving children. His proudest moments were having his son graduate with a bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and Paola graduating from Las Cruces High School and currently continuing her education at New Mexico State University. Not a day went by that his children did not feel his love. He always pushed them to be successful and loved them unconditionally. He would always follow up after his hugs and kisses by saying “me quieres hijo?” His legacy will live on through his children, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and all the hearts he touched.
Joel is preceded in death by his parents, Emma Lozoya Nunez and Zefrino Villezcas.
