BANGHART, Joel Dale passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at home, after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Dale was born May 13, 1934, in Arenac County, MI a son of the late Olin and Ethel Kerr Banghart and was a resident of the Galesburg area for over 50 years. Dale owned and operated Banghart Excavating with his brother, for over 55 years.

Dale’s work was his passion. He loved being on his equipment and doing the best job that he could. Dale was also an avid hunter. He enjoyed the hunt, as well as just being in the woods where he could enjoy nature and it was peaceful. Dale was a private person, who didn’t always tell people what he thought, but he was proud of and deeply loved his family. On July 17, 1982, he was united in marriage with Leslie Graham, who survives.

Dale is also survived by his children, Kim Brodhagen of Mattawan, Kerry Banghart of Kalamazoo, Jackie Jeff Copenhafer of Galesburg, and Jared Banghart of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Travis Maureen Brodhagen, Robert Kelli Brodhagen, Tanner Brodhagen, Ashlee Cox Greg Wolthuis, fiancée, Baxter Banghart, and Anders Banghart; great-grandchildren, Javin Harring, Tyanna Brodhagen, Danielle Brodhagen, and Hunter Brodhagen; a sister, Vonda Cox; two brothers, Dallas Banghart and Alex Eleanor Banghart; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Allison; and two brothers, Erskane Banghart and Orlin Banghart.
