Joel D. Manus, 68, died Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the UW Health University Hospital in Madison, WI following a nine year battle with multiple forms of cancer. He was born January 22, 1950, in Freeport, Illinois to John and Eloise (Yeager) Manus.

He graduated in 1968 from Freeport High School and in 1972 from Iowa State University. He married Sally (Washburn) on May 5, 1979, in Freeport, IL.

During his time as a Construction Estimator/Project Manager from 1972-2012, he oversaw the building of many commercial properties in the northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin area for Cheeseman Construction Co., Harn Construction, and The Rockwell Group (a division of The Morse Group). Following retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, woodworking, and home remodeling/maintenance projects with his son and daughter. He was a member of the Germania Club and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freeport.

He is survived by his wife, Sally, of Freeport; Son, Eric (Alicen) Manus and their children Ethan, Emma, and Elijah of Arlington Heights, IL; Daughter, Dr. Mrs. Lisa Manus (Andrew Schanck) of Lawrenceville, NJ; Sister, Pam (Al) Raeder of Watertown, SD; Mother-in-Law, Shirley (Kuhlmyer) Washburn of Freeport; Sister-in-Law, Mary (Dan) Lashinski of Freeport; and many nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eloise (Yeager) Manus, and his Father-in-Law, Alfred Washburn.
