Joe S. Shinnebarger, 85, of Meredosia, passed away March 18, 2013, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehab.
He was born Aug. 28, 1927, in Buckhorn, the son of Percy and Marie Sweeney Shinnebarger. He married Judy Martin on Nov. 18, 1972, in Meredosia, and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Ronald (Sherry) Shinnebarger of Mapleton; three daughters, Shell (Darin) Herrmann of Peoria, Marcia (Richard) Todd of Emington and Rebecca (James) Logan of Chatham; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shinnebarger spent many years on the road, retiring as a truck driver. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and is a member of the American Legion, holding one of the longest memberships in the Meredosia American Legion. Joe always had a joke or story to tell and he never met a stranger.
