Joe Louis Manuel entered the world on June 9, 1940, the son of the late George and Essie Manuel. The Lord called him home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He accepted Christ at an early age at Beaver Creek AMEZ Church, Fayetteville, NC. He later joined Haskell Heights First Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until his death.
Joe was preceded in death by his son, Roderick Manuel, his daughter Sukandra “Cookie” Sanderson, four brothers, George Jr, Franklin, Andre, and Willis; father and mother-in-law, Johnny Areatha Arline; and sister-in-law, Genevie Manuel.
Those who are cherishing his memories are his wife of 43 years, Gloria Manuel of the home; two sons, Dr. Tony (Karen) Nelson, and Alex “Tiger” Sanderson, both of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, one of which preceded him in death, Derrick Anthony, Kendra (Chris), Irmo, SC; Shaquandra (Zuri), Jacksonville, FL; Tony (Laci), Columbia, SC; Anthony “Rhashad” Ethiopia, Africa; Jarae, Swansea, SC; and Alyse, Killeen, TX; fifteen (15) great-grandchildren, one sister, Joyce “Patsy” (Charles) Davenport, Fayetteville, NC; three brothers, Jimmy Manuel, Greensboro, NC, Donald Manuel, Hampton, VA and William (Shirley) Manuel of Fayetteville, NC, one sister-in-law, Mary Jordan, Irmo, SC; one brother-in-law, Johnny “Bud” (Yvonne) Arline, Tampa FL; a special niece, Karen “Bootsie” Crowder, Monroe, NC; a devoted surrogate church son and daughter, Aaron and Tammy Wilson of Blythewood, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, all of whom will dearly miss him.
