Joe David Lee passed away at home on Friday, May 27, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He was born on February 14, 1935 the son of David Marion and Lola Mae Lee. He grew up in East Lake, graduated from Woodlawn High School, and the University of Alabama with a degree in Accounting. He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. After his graduation, Joe served his country in the Alabama Army National Guard. He was an active member of Ruhama and Huffman Baptists Churches, serving many years as Deacon and offering counter, as well as working in the financial office. He was a proud member of Metro East King Solomon Lodge 932 for over 59 years. Also member of Scottish Rite, Shrine, York Rite bodies of Alabama. He presided in many positions including Grand Treasurer of York Rite of Alabama and Past Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Alabama. He retired after 30 years of service in the office of the comptroller for Jefferson County. Joe was a kind and humble man who had strong Christian convictions. He was a true devoted friend to many. He was also a die-hard Braves baseball fan and Roll-Tide supporter. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Martha Anne Lee. He is survived by his wife, Louise Lee, step-son, Gary Trucks (Teresa) and his beloved golden retriever dog, Major. He is also survived by step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and many good friends and family.
