Reverend Joe Coleman was the son of the late Bishop General Coleman & Rosie Lee Gilbert Coleman. He was born in Coffee County. He returned to his Creator on June 16, 2022.
At an early age, Reverend Coleman accepted God as his Lord and Savior. He attended and graduated from Barbour County Training School in Clayton, AL and later attended Wallace Community College in Dothan, AL.
He worked as a Salesman at Walter Hand Ford Motor Company, where he was the Top Salesman until he retired.
Reverend Coleman was married to his wife, Mary Ann Coleman, for 50 years and to this union they had four children.
Reverend Joe Coleman was the Pastor of several churches: Shiloh & Marianna in the Mt Andrews Circuit; St Luke AME Church in Louisville, AL; Sweet Hope AME Church in Elamville, AL; Jones Chapel AME Church in Clayton, AL; and Shady Grove AME Church in Elba, AL.
He was preceded in death by his; wife: Mary Ann Coleman; one daughter: Pamela R. Coleman; brothers: Mack Coleman & James Curtis Coleman; sisters: Gracie Adair, Ruthie Mae Pelt, Rosie Lee Herring, and Renna Coleman.
He leaves to cherish his memories; one son: Stevie Coleman of Louisville, Alabama; two daughters: Cynthia Hamilton of Louisville, Alabama and Christy (Antone) Foster of Montgomery, Alabama; three siblings: Lillie Herring of Boyton Beach, Florida, Emma Nell Coleman of Ozark, Alabama, and Sharon Lema of Tampa, Florida; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
