Joe “Coach” Burson, 74, of Albany, Georgia passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017. Joe was born April 8, 1943, he was the son of the late Malcom and Sara Jane Burson. Joe is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Kathryn Hightower; children, Scott (Kristin) Burson, Wesley Burson and Julie (Jim) Hughie; brother, Robert “Bobby” Burson; grandchildren, Sarah Ann Hughie, Byers James Burson and Maddy Grace Burson. Joe was a graduate of UGA as well as played football (Safety 1962-1965) for the Georgia Bulldogs. Joe was an educator and avid golfer and was inducted into the Coweta County Sports Hall of Fame.
