HAVERHILL – There are no words to explain how we feel as we mourn the loss of one of the most important people in our lives who we knew simply as Uncle Joe. A free spirit that lived his best life as a God fearing man that would not allow any elements to pull him out of his loving character and selfless nature. Joe was a charismatic intellectual who was gifted and fluent in several languages who spent most of his free time reading books, periodicals and journals in order to education-himself and to better understand other societies, cultures and civilizations besides his own.

As a proud child of Port-au-Prince Haiti Joe’s patriotism was evident in his mannerism, his overall treatment of the people around him and how he conducted himself during his tenure in our lives and on this planet.  He had an unwavering love and profound affection for his siblings, his daughters Alexandra and Mya Astier, nephews and nieces and conveyed that to anyone of us who was receptive to his loving ways. God decided to call his angel home to be with him and we are (now) left with glorious memories and yet a pain in our hearts and a void in our lives but who are we to question the creator and his decisions.  Joe Astier or Uncle Joe will forever be in our hearts and we will always speak your good name and walk just as upright as you did while you were with us. We will be merciful with all mankind just as you were and will practice the art of charity and forgiveness just as you did with those around you.
