Joe passed on unexpectedly on Saturday 03/30/2013, but will forever leave an impression on the many lives he touched.

Born in Corpus Christi Texas to Janie Brady , raised by his grandmother Juanita Hernandez. Joe remembers this time is where he learned from his grandmother to work for what you wanted in life, meant dedication and “Never give up”

Later in 1961 he was drafted and completed his basic training in Fort Ord, CA. When he completed the training he was transferred to Fort Campbell, KY where he trained as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division “The Screaming Eagles”. In 1962 the 101st was on “alert” to activate and be on stand by to go to Cuba, due to problems at the “Bay of Pigs” stayed in alert through to New York during the time of Castro. When he completed his term with the 101st. he returned home, ironically the very day Kennedy was assassinated, however he remained on the reserves until 1967.

Joe moved to Winslow in 1960 and his dedication is recognized in his many accomplishments:

He operated EL Papagayo, Joe’s Refrigeration and Heating and as VFW Commander for 4 years. He was also instrumental in getting the Falcons started here in Winslow, a group of friends that learned to jump with a static line.

But Joe will always be remembered as the “Sharp Shooter” at the pool table where no one stood a chance when Joe was at the table!!

Proven through his many trophies and disappointed faces when he walked away with a smile and the cash.

Joe is survived by his wife Josephine Perez, siblings Felipe Perez, Helen Ribera, and Carolina Jaramillo. His children Carol Dawn (Perez), Diana Perez, Joann Olivas (Conrad), Paula and Luini Vargas, and Joe Jr. His Grandchildren Kimberly Von Dane, Gilbert Moncayo Jr., Edward Montoya, Richard Perez, Fabian Olguin, Stevie Perez Montoya, Johnny Montoya, and Martin Vargas and Great-grandchildren Hunter, Emily, Olivia Curtis, Aubree Moncayo, Manual and Josiah Perez, Emiliana and Raymond Jr. Elliott, Izaak Olguin, and Vincent Montoya.
