She passed away June 5, 2015 at her residence after a long courageous battle with lung cancer.
Jodi was born on July 18, 1967, the daughter of Darwin and Janice (Wagner) Heppner in Norfolk, Nebraska. She graduated from Norfolk High School in 1985, and attended Northeast Community College.
On October 13, 1995, Jodi married John Cowling at the First United Methodist Church in Norfolk.
Jodi was a determined, feisty, kind, brave and strong woman with an infectious laugh. Jodi selflessly gave to anyone and everyone that she met and took them under her wings. She was a person that showed the whole world and everyone in it compassion. Jodis house was always open to those who were hungry, the family called it Oak Street Deli. She gave love to everyone that she encountered throughout her life. Jodi gave wise advice and was a mentor to many people. She was a daycare provider for many years and she always remembered her daycare kids by their names even after quite a few years. She started with in-home daycare then opened Jodis Childcare in 2010. She loved her daycare children. Jodi cherished her time with her family, who would always find the smallest reason to gather for a picnic or a cookout.
Jodi is survived by her husband John, children Christina (Brandon) Benson, Courtney, Caitlyn and Conner Cowling, grandchildren Braylee, Milah, and Adalyn Benson, parents Darwin and Janice Heppner, brothers Rick and Jeff (Marj) Heppner, sister Kim (Gary) Frowick, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
