Beloved mother of David and beloved mother-in-law to Lilia of Alameda, CA; devoted aunt to Kenton (wife Sherrill), Linda (husband Alvin), and Karen (husband Bill), and caring sister-in-law to Barbara, all of Sacramento, CA; loving great aunt to Brandon (wife Lauree) of Plainville, MA, Kelly of Salina, KS, and Aaron (wife Junet), of Sacramento, CA. She was predeceased by her parents Sarkis and Hayganoosh; Leo, her only sibling and adored older brother; and the love of her life, husband John.

Born in San Francisco, CA, her family moved to Oakland, CA, when she was about 4 years old. Having graduated from University High School in Oakland in January 1942, she began working as a civilian clerical employee for the US Navy during WWII, eventually attaining the unique distinction of becoming the first female Fleet Traffic Manager on the West Coast, before retiring from NAS Alameda in 1974. She then began volunteering in the Alameda Unified School District, enjoyed traveling abroad, and loved meeting people from all backgrounds. Throughout her working life and retirement, she maintained close relations with the “Navy Gals,” a group of friends that have stayed in touch for more than 65 years. She was also treasured by numerous neighbors and members of St.

Her tremendous warmth and infectious sense of humor could not be diminished even by the various health challenges she faced in her later years, and her light spirit kept everyone laughing until her peaceful passing at her home in the company of family.
