Passed away Thursday afternoon, May 24, 2018. Joanne was born November 2, 1930 In Hancock, MI the daughter of the late Garvin and Elsa (Kettenbeil) Mitchell.
She was a graduate of the St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Hancock. She worked for several years in the office of Dr. A. B. Aldrich in Houghton before getting married and moving to Kalamazoo. After raising her children, she did volunteer work as an R.N. on Red Cross Blood Drives for several years.
She also delivered Meals on Wheels and worked the information desk at the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek Airport. On April 18, 1959 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Larry Watson who preceded her in death on December 23, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Garvin “Bud” Mitchell. Joanne is survived by her children, Kathleen (Daniel) Stuut, Thomas (Susan) Watson; 2 grandchildren, Matthew (Jessalyn) Stuut, Sara Stuut; and great-granddaughter, Carmen.
