Joanne L. Yurchak, age 78, of Salem, died at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Auburn Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, now she’s together again with her late husband, Andrew, her true love. She was born June 20, 1937 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Helen (Menough) Szkola.

She was an administrative assistant for the Salem Memorial Building. Joanne was a 1955 graduate of Salem High School and a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed gardening, cross-stitch, sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family. She was also an avid Elvis Presley fan until the end, and visited Graceland twice.

Her husband, Andrew Yurchak, whom she married September 27, 1958, preceded her in death June 14, 1981.

Survivors include, two daughters, Vicki (Mark) Rice of Salem, Debbie (Bruce) Cody of Salem; two sisters, Anna Ruth (Robert) McNamee of Guilford Lake, and Helen P. Szkola of Salem; six grandchildren, Michael, Andrew, Daniel, and Joseph Rice, and Corey and Wendy Cody; five great-grandchildren, Kameron, Jaelynn, Makayla, Carter, and Juliana.
