Joanne Louise Bates (Lombardi), 77, of Peabody, died peacefully in her sleep Friday March 25th at the Kaplan Hospice House following a brief illness.
Joanne was predeceased by her father and mother John and Lena Lombardi of Beverly MA and her late husband Lester John Bates Jr. also of Beverly.
Joanne was proud to be “Nonni” to her loving grandchildren Nicholas John and Rachel Elizabeth Bates of Salem, MA and Christine Carbee of Vermont. She leaves behind three sons, Michael from Kailua-Kona Hawaii, John and his wife Melissa from Salem, MA and Lester from Kailua-Kona Hawaii. She is survived by her brother John Lombardi and his wife Jeanne of Florida.
“Nonni” Bates was an accomplished cook and well known for her heavenly Italian sauce, homemade pasta, and eggplant parmigiana. Her fondness of people as well as her love of cooking always ensured a packed table at dinner time. She will be remembered for her generosity and her love of family and friends.
