SALEM – (Hazel) Joanne Williams, age 86, formerly of East Fairfield, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living from a long illness. She was born July 2, 1932 in Lisbon, the daughter of the late Lester and Eva (Clapsadle) Beagle.
Joanne was a 1950 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School and enjoyed attending her class reunions. She was a lifelong resident of Lisbon and surrounding areas. She was a member of the Salem Bible Church.
She successfully owned and operated the Ivystone Restaurant and McCook House Tavern for 30 years. Joanne was well-known for her prime rib, beautiful cakes she made for family and special events, her warm smile, hearty laugh and generosity. She was the family historian, able to recall amazing details of life events and everyone’s birthday. Joanne was a former 4-H advisor, enjoyed playing Scrabble, Bookworm and Euchre. She loved to travel with her husband, family and friends and spending the winters, for the past 20 years, in their home in Leesburg, FL.
Survivors include her husband Charles A. Williams, whom she married November 22, 1953; three daughters, Cherrie Williams of Odessa, FL, Joy Wahl of Aurora, CO and Carolyn (William) Nezbeth of Salem. She leaves seven grandchildren, Eric (Tracey) Spooner of Columbiana, Andy Spooner of Massillon, Laura Vanlaningham of Tampa, FL, Joshua Nezbeth of Denver, CO, Lyndsay (Jim) Honerkamp of Denver, CO, Carolyn and Natalie Wahl of Aurora, CO; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two nieces; one nephew and their families.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by her only sister, Patricia L. Blaine.
