“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

Late Tuesday evening, April 10th, Joanne Goldsmith left for Heaven. Her three sons, her daughter-in-law, and two very special friends were by her side to wish her “God Speed.” We’re all going to miss her, but we’re happy that she’s now free from pain, and reunited with the love of her life, Donald. Joanne was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, the second child in a family of four children. In 1944, before her 20th birthday, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After WWII ended, while she was stationed at Taylor Model Basin in Maryland, she met Donald Goldsmith who had been recently discharged from the U.S. Army. It was a case of love at first sight. Joanne and Donald were married on February 15, 1947, and were inseparable until Donald’s death in 2011. In 1956, after Donald accepted a job at Patrick AFB, Joanne, Donald, and their three boys moved to Cocoa Beach.
