Joanne Canzellarini, 89, of Old Saybrook, died on Friday, April 30. Born in Newington to the late Joseph and Mary (Pacyna) Stempien, she lived in town for much of her early life. She had a zeal for life that was compounded with her need to always be moving. Joanne had a flourishing garden, a loving family, and kept the home up to date on its major projects. She spent twenty years as a clerk for Stop & Shop. Joanne leaves her daughter, Carol Canzellarini and her partner John; her sons, Stephen Canzellarini and his wife Barbara, Richard Canzellarini and his wife Aldona, and John Canzellarini and his wife Vivian. She is also survived by her five loving grandchildren and two beloved great-grandchildren. Joanne was predeceased by her husband, Harold; her sisters, Anne Battistone and Agnes Harvey; and her brothers John Stempien and Tony Stempien.
