Joann Cargile
Muncie – Joann Louise Cargile (née Perkins), 76, ended her long battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at home. One of eight children, Joann was born on September 24, 1944 in Muncie.
She attended St. Lawrence School and graduated from Muncie Central High School. She married Gerald W. Cargile in 1964 and lived in Muncie her entire life. For a brief time she worked at Duffy Tool and Stamping.
She was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She was actively involved with the lives of her children. She treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchild. While she never quite made it to 5 feet tall (4’ 11½”), her feisty personality made up for her short stature. She loved her family, lighthouses, enjoyed playing euchre, bingo and card games and trips with her brothers and sisters to Gulf Shores, AL. She loved the beach.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Gerald “Jerry” Cargile; her twin brother John Perkins, brothers Bill and Frank Perkins; sister-in-law Susan Perkins (née Taylor); nephew Nick Karch; and parents Clarence and Mary Frances Perkins (née Rahe).
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, John Cargile (husband Damian Rosales) of St.
