JoAnn grew up in Winnsboro, La. where she attended Winnsboro High School. She was a cheerleader, played basketball and played the clarinet in the band. After graduation she met her future husband, Sonny Bond and moved to Rayville and they began their family.
JoAnn was employed by the Richland Parish School Board for over 30 years where she retired in 2004. One of her dreams was to finish college and get her degree, she also expected that of her children. She had put her education on hold to raise a family but at the age of 52, she graduated from NLU (currently ULM) with her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
One of her greatest joys were her grandchildren (Carson, Coleman, Ellie, Hailey, Taylor, Callie, Codi). She never missed a softball, baseball, football, soccer, or tennis game. She was always there to support them and was their biggest fan. They were her joy and she loved being part of their lives. She loved being their Mimi. They even named a dance after her, the Mimi shuffle.
JoAnn had a talent for sewing and cooking. She loved making outfits for her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews and made Christening gowns, Prom dresses and Wedding dresses for many of them. Another talent was her cooking which was loved by so many. She was an excellent cook. No one could beat her chicken and dumplings, pies and cakes. We especially loved her strawberry pie. She made it a point to always have our favorite meal for our birthdays and always loved preparing for the Holidays.
She also loved to “go.” Every chance she had she was taking a trip. Her favorite trips were with her sisters (Susie and Ruby) who loved to spend time together. They made numerous trips together to the beach but one of the most memorable was the trip they all made together to Europe. It was one of the last trips they made with each other. She and her husband Sonny also went on many adventures with good friends, Donald and Paula Cumpton. You never knew where they may end up which was part of the fun.
JoAnn is preceded in death by her parents Russell and Joy Henry; brothers, James Henry and Joe Henry; and sister, Ruby McMahan.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Johnny (Sonny); sons, Jim Bond (Debbie), Keith Bond (Shelly); daughter, Melanie Kuethe (Kermit); brother, David Henry (Ann), sister, Susie Carpenter (Johnny); grandchildren, Hailey Batarseh (David), Codi Bridges (Ian), Taylor Hill, Callie Bond (Hayden Dixon), Carson Bond, Coleman Bond, and Ellie Bond; Great-grandchildren, Ben Batarseh, Brooks Bridges, and numerous special nieces and nephews.

We would also like to thank all of the staff at Rosemont Assisted Living for taking care of our Mother in her last days. Lastly, we would like to thank her nephew, Dr. Byron Henry for always being there for us and taking care of our Mother.
