JoAnn Alma Wright (Nee Phillips) of Bryans Road, MD passed away on January 1, 2016 at the age of 85. She was born in Newberry, SC on March 2, 1930.

She was preceded in death by her parents Welton Pryor Phillips and Jesse Ruth Phillips (Nee Brown); her siblings Welton P. Phillips, Jr., Harold Phillips, Doris G. Bledsoe, and Mary Elizabeth Anderson; granddaughter Kristy Wright, and son-in-laws Doug Evans and Skip Cassidy.

JoAnn is survived by her husband Thomas Lodge Wright whom she married September 11, 1966; children Rebecca Ann Quinlan (Ed), Janice Kay Wright (Jr.), Virginia Lynn Evans and Thomas Pryor Wright (Julia Anne); grandchildren Amy Saye, Amanda Leger, Eddie Quinlan, Jimmy McLane, Rusty McLane, Eric Evans, Brandon Evans, Jason Evans, Stephanie Wells, Corey Oglesby, Faith Wright, Nick Wright, Wes Wright and 13 great grandchildren.

JoAnn went to school in Newberry, South Carolina.  She was a toll collector at the Harry Nice Bridge, where she retired as Sargent. 

She enjoyed bingo, gardening, canning, listening to country music and dancing.  She was an avid Redskin fan.  Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren gave her the most enjoyment in life.  She was proud to be married almost 50 years to the love of her life.
