Joan Mellinger Wood, 86, Pendleton, passed away January 15, 2009 at Zionsville Meadows – Zionsville, Indiana after a brief illness. She was born September 24, 1922 in Anderson, Indiana, and resided in the Anderson/Pendleton area all of her life.
Joan was a hairdresser and homemaker. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. She cherished every moment she spent with them. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Cindy Grady Skeoch of Westfield, Neil Gloria Wood of Brown Deer, Wisconsin and Candy Ashby of Florida; sister, Harriett Wilson of Florida; sister-in-law, Cleone Mellinger of Pendleton; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Buzz & Nancy Wood of Huntsville; nieces, Jackie and Jill; nephew, Scott; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Jeff Paulshock, Amy Jerry Shinneman, Joseph Wood, Chris Ashby and Michael Ashby; great grandchildren, Joshua Knaus, Joel Young, Sam Coon, Nicholas Shinneman, Mallory Shinneman and Courtney Paulshock; great great grandson, Carter Knaus; several nieces and several nephews.
