Joan Yurko, 88, of Nazareth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2022 with her loving daughter by her side. She was the wife of Charles Yurko, who passed away in 2004. Born on December 31, 1933 in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late William and Eleanor (Leslie) Wildemuth.

Joan worked in the garment industry for many years for Panzell Inc. in Fountain Hill and as a waitress at Grants. Her greatest work though was at home raising her three children. She was their biggest supporter and encouraged her sons’ motorsports and racing hobbies. Joan always had an endless supply of sweet goodies to share. She made THE BEST chocolate cake and macaroni salad ever and was always ready for a picnic. Joan enjoyed funnel cake, polka dancing, playing bingo and the lottery but never checked her tickets. All animals instantly loved Joan, and she loved and cared for them all. Joan was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Miller Heights. We will forever remember her contagious happy energy, competitiveness when playing Skip-Bo, Bugles on her fingers, PEPSI with any meal, her desire to make others smile and laugh with her inappropriate jokes, goofy hats, tearing up over any gift she was given, appreciation for any nice gesture, and goofiness that would eventually erupt into the “Joanie” Show” at some point at any family event.
Enjoy the after party with loved ones you’ve missed, especially Dad. We know you’ll be the life of the party in true mom mom fashion. Always in our hearts forever.

Survivors: Joan will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert Yurko and wife Donna of Bethlehem, and Michael Yurko and wife Susan of Salisbury, NC.; daughter, Charlene Yurko and Ron Alberti of Nazareth; grandchildren, Justin, Shelby, Erica, Chrissy, Cross and Charlie; great grandchildren, Alina Rose and Aisla. She was predeceased by sisters, Lorraine Hartzell, Beatrice Trumbower and Arlene Lauer.
