79′ passed away on October 27, 2012 at the Suncoast Hospice House, Palm Harbor, FL after a brief illness. Formerly of Washington, PA, she was a current resident of Oldsmar, FL. She was born October 9, 1933, the only daughter of Julia Taper Polinski and John B. Taper, in Canonsburg, PA.
Joan attended Indiana State University and was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. She was a teacher at Pinellas County, Peters Township, Canon Mc-Millon and Washington, PA School Districts. She was also a teacher at Fairwinds Treatment Center in Clearwater, FL.
She was very active in the Washington, PA community serving as President of The Daughters of Current Events and held various other board positions on Symphony South, The Neighborhood House Association and the Citizen’s Library.
Surviving are a daughter Nancy and son-in-law Michael F. Trauffler. She has four grandchildren Ryan, Lexton, Kyle and Jenna all of The Woodlands, TX. Deceased are two sons Brian D. Adamson and an infant son.
