Joan Waidelich Secor, 80, of Newnan passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Wesley Woods of Newnan-Peachtree City. Joan was born August 2, 1940 in Queens, NY to the late Jacob Waidelich & Ruth Foell Waidelich. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, John Edward Secor. Joan graduated from Queens College in New York with a degree in history and from West Georgia College with a master’s degree. She was a longtime history teacher at Newnan High School where she made many lasting relationships. She and her husband were longtime members of Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City. Survivors include sister, Nancy (Duke) Frey of Bermuda Dunes, CA; brother, Alan Waidelich of Middlebury, CT; brother-in-law, Eugene (Martha) Secor of Newnan; nephews, Brian Courter of San Diego, CA, Chris (Violet) Courter of Santee, CA, Shannon (Judy) Secor of Newnan, Kevin (Stephanie) Secor of Panama City, FL, Shane (Valarie) Secor of Tempe, AZ; and nieces, Karen (Scott) Ulrich of Carlsbad, CA, Katrina (jerry) Barman of Williamson, GA, Whitney Waidelich.
