She was born January 24, 1934, in Barrington, the daughter of John and Florence (Burrell) Becker.
Joan attended school in Lake Zurich, Illinois where she met the love of her life, Wayne Sandman. She went on to graduate from Libertyville High School then attended college at Northern Illinois University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She had a quick laughter and wit, and was always ready to lend a hand, especially to Wayne on his construction projects! After retirement, she and Wayne traveled the world and enjoyed decades of adventures together. She was the best wife, mother and grandmother a person could ask for.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 69 years Wayne; children Steve (Kathryn) Sandman of Geneva, Tim (Sarah) of Iowa, Sally (Randy) Pease of St. Charles, and Lori (Norbert) Lyle of Arizona; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren; and many other dear relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
