Joan Mary Laine Hammond, 84, of Ellicott City Maryland, died on April 22, 2016 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster, Maryland. She was surrounded by her family.
Joan was born in Irvington, New Jersey on January 27, 1932. She spent many days of her youth on the Jersey shore. In 1956 she married the love of her life, St. Agnes surgeon Dr. Anthony F. Hammond Jr. Tony and Joan were married just shy of 60 years. Joan was an avid traveler, an amazing chef and an incredibly talented artist. She had a voracious love of life and a quick wit. This beautiful lady was an empathetic listener and never met a stranger. Joan was also blessed with the gift of gab! She had a rare talent to make everyone feel like a longtime friend within a few minutes of meeting her.
Joan earned her A.A. from Catonsville Community College and her B.A. in Fine Arts from Towson State University, Suma Cum Laude.
Joan is survived by her adoring husband, her four loving children, Patricia, Anthony III, Paul, and Jennifer, and her amazing grandchildren, Andrew, Anthony IV, Douglas, and Abigail. Joan also leaves behind many wonderful nieces, nephews and cousins. She is loved dearly by many.
